Golf Injuries
Golf places significant repetitive stress on the lumbar spine, hips, thoracic spine, shoulders, and elbows. When the body lacks the mobility and stability required to execute a proper swing, it compensates, and those compensations accumulate into injury over time.
Common golf injuries we treat include:
- Low back pain and disc irritation
- Golfer's elbow and forearm tendinopathy
- Rotator cuff strains and shoulder impingement
- Hip flexor injuries
- Rib stress from rotational loading
Beyond treating the injury itself, we incorporate our Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) mobility screen and video swing analysis to identify the physical limitations driving the problem and eliminate them at the source.
Sciatica
Sciatica is a condition caused by irritation or compression of the sciatic nerve, which runs from the lower back through the hips and down each leg. It often causes symptoms like sharp pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness in the lower back, buttocks, and legs.
Chiropractors address sciatica by identifying the source of nerve pressure and using gentle spinal adjustments, stretching techniques, and targeted therapies to improve spinal alignment and mobility. Treatment aims to reduce inflammation, relieve nerve irritation, and help patients move more comfortably while supporting long-term recovery and prevention.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when the median nerve is compressed at the wrist, leading to numbness, tingling, weakness, and pain in the hand and fingers.
While surgery is sometimes necessary in severe cases, many patients with carpal tunnel syndrome respond well to conservative chiropractic care.
We address nerve compression not just at the wrist but throughout the entire pathway of the median nerve, including the cervical spine and thoracic outlet, where compression and restriction can contribute to or mimic carpal tunnel symptoms.
Combined with wrist and forearm adjustments, dry needling, neural manipulation, and ergonomic guidance, our approach offers a meaningful alternative to surgical intervention for appropriate candidates.
Headaches
Most headaches have a musculoskeletal component, even when they do not feel like it. Cervicogenic headaches, which originate from dysfunction in the cervical spine and surrounding muscles, are among the most common types we see and among the most responsive to chiropractic care.
Tension headaches driven by trigger points in the upper trap and suboccipitals, among others, also respond exceptionally well to a combination of cervical adjustments and dry needling.
If you are managing headaches with over-the-counter pain medication on a regular basis, there is a good chance the underlying cause has never been properly addressed. We can help change that.

Services Used to Treat These Conditions
Every care plan at Sherwood Spine & Sport is built around the unique findings of your assessment. We draw from a comprehensive range of treatment approaches to address your condition from every relevant angle.
Chiropractic Adjustments
Using manual manipulation, drop table technique, flexion distraction, and Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT), we restore normal joint motion, reduce nerve irritation, and relieve pain throughout the spine and extremities.
Our multi-technique approach allows us to match the method to the patient and the condition.
Dry Needling
Thin monofilament needles are used to release trigger points, reduce chronic muscle tension, and accelerate soft tissue healing.
Dry needling is particularly effective for conditions involving stubborn muscular pain, referred pain patterns, and injuries that have not responded fully to manual care alone.
Sports Chiropractic Care & Rehabilitation
For active patients and athletes, sports chiropractic combines hands-on treatment with structured rehabilitation to address the root cause of injury, restore full function, and support a durable return to sport and activity.
Golf Mobility Assessment & Golf Injury Rehabilitation
Our TPI mobility screen and video swing analysis connect your physical limitations directly to your swing mechanics and injury patterns, providing a precise roadmap for both performance improvement and injury resolution.
Therapeutic Exercise
Individualized corrective exercise programming targets the specific movement dysfunctions, weaknesses, and imbalances identified in your assessment. Rehabilitation is not complete without rebuilding the physical foundation that keeps your condition from returning.
Visceral Manipulation
Gentle, hands-on work addressing the soft tissues surrounding organs helps resolve fascial restrictions that contribute to chronic back, pelvic, and abdominal pain, particularly in patients who have not responded to more traditional musculoskeletal approaches.
Neural Manipulation
Neural manipulation is a gentle hands-on therapy that helps improve nerve mobility and reduce irritation within the nervous system. Often used alongside chiropractic care, it may help relieve pain, numbness, tingling, and movement restrictions while supporting better overall function and comfort.
SFMA (Selective Functional Movement Assessment)
A systematic movement diagnostic framework that identifies the true root cause of pain and dysfunction by evaluating how your body moves as a whole, ensuring that every treatment decision is purposeful and based on clinical evidence rather than guesswork.
